Sarah Buckmaster

Sarah is currently the Director of Operations for an international non-profit organisation, focusing on systems thinking for social change. Having an academic background covering both the arts and sciences, Sarah is passionate about the role of communications in research impact and evaluation. From 2009 to 2011, Sarah managed the outreach program for the UK Sustainable Uplands project, which was awarded the prestigious “best impact” award by UK Research Councils’ Rural Economy & Land Use programme. The work was also shortlisted as a finalist for the European Union’s Natura 2000 award in 2015, being described as a project that “really moved the needle for conservation”. Since that role, Sarah has moved on to coordinate communications and fundraising activities for several non-profit and private organisations, working at both strategic and operational levels to develop and implement a number of high impact research communications strategies.
