Take photos to earn Amazon vouchers and help with research

£20 Amazon voucher per photo for first 100 uploads

If you visit peatlands in Dartmoor, the East Anglian fens, Greater Manchester, the North York Moors or Northumberland, we want to hear from you, to help with research that is informing the development of the England Peat Strategy.

Please share your understandings, opinions, impressions, and priorities for peatlands.

Please take a photo of your peatland site and then describe your view by answering some simple questions. Visit multiple peatland locations within your site if possible. There are no wrong answers, but your photo does have to be in one of these five sites:

To capture your photos and thoughts we are using two mobile phone applications:

  1. For Android phones read these instructions to download Landscape Connect

  2. For iPhones read these instructions to download Rate my View

The process is simple:

  1. Download the app

  2. Visit one of the five peatland sites (see maps above – Dartmoor is ONE site)

  3. Take photos and answer the questions in the app about each photo

  4. Submit photos and answers (Please submit as many photos as you like, but payments are limited to 5 uploads per person. You will receive your vouchers within 14 days if yours are among the first 20 photos to be submitted in your peatland site.)

Terms and conditions

We are offering £20 per contribution for the first 20 photos submitted in each of the five sites. Each person can contribute up to 5 photos, each with its own questionnaire. If you want to check how many photos have been submitted so far in your site, you can contact Dr John Martin, but we cannot guarantee an immediate response so it is best to upload your photos right away to maximise your chances of success. If you are successful, you will hear from us within 14 days of submitting your photos and thoughts – but remember:

  1. You will need to add your email address when completing the mobile questionnaires

  2. Entries need to be from one of the five peatland sites listed above

  3. All of the questions should be answered and there should be different answers if you have taken multiple photos

  4. Please visit multiple locations within each peatland site and make multiple contributions if possible (you will get a £20 voucher for each contribution up to a maximum of five contributions, or £100 per person).

The contact details you enter will only be used for the purposes of the research project, ‘Social barriers and opportunities to the implementation of the England Peat Strategy’, funded by Natural England. For more information about the research, contact Professor Mark Reed.

By using the application to submit information and photographs:

  1. You consent to the Natural England Peatland Pilot using any information and photographs that you submit via these questionnaires.

  2. You consent to the University of Plymouth storing and using your personal data in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
